Steven Cheng, Managing Director
Born, raised in China and educated in home and abroad, Steven Cheng in 1998 came to Canada after 20 years of a high profile business and government career in China. Steven is intimately familiar with China’s industry structure and economic system, having close connections with government and business officials in various industries and provinces.
Today Steven is based in Edmonton and is the Managing Director of Elenet International Ltd., a consultancy covering: information technology; education and e-commerce software development; international trade and business globalization strategies.
Prior to relocating to Canada, Steven was Regional Manager of Kodak in Western China, where he built Kodak’s distribution channels, retail networks, customer services and technical support programs related to commercial, professional and medical products, while establishing crucial relationships with local businesses and government departments. Before joining Kodak, Steven was a Senior Engineer and Supervisor with IMPREGILO, an Italian engineering company that built the world’s 3rd largest dam in China. Steven supervised site excavation, dam construction and main and sub-contract management.
From 1986-1992, Steven was a government officer in the Foreign Affairs Department of Science and Technology Commission of Sichuan. His expertise was technology investigation and transfer, project assessment, partner matching, project negotiation and on-going management. His position demanded meeting a great number of foreign business and government delegations, whom he would introduce and establish numerous investment and cooperation projects covering agriculture, education, light and heavy industry and high technology, and visiting a broad spectrum of industries and organizations around the world.
Prior to working in government, Steven was a technician and assistant Electrical Engineer at the Telecommunication Research Academy of Sichuan Province, where he participated in a number of research projects of long-distance communication, automatic control and was awarded state level prizes.
Steven has both an Electrical Engineering and Business Administration education and was a past Vice Governor of Chamber of Commerce of America, Sichuan, and a member of Foreign Invested Enterprises Association of Sichuan.
Roger Hui, Branch Manager, Senior Consultant
Roger is a veteran in international project co-operation and management with more than twenty years experiences working in China and abroad. He is extremely familiar with China’s economic system and society structure, with extensive knowledge and distinguished understanding to outline China’s economic trends, to capture the core spirits of state policies, and to identify valuable business opportunities. His experiences are reliable resource and the short-cut approaches to assist global enterprises to match business partners, to establish business operations in China marketplace.
Since 2002, Roger is a senior consultant and based in China to execute and manage foreign projects. And also he is a contract partner for the United States DOC to participate the verification on the dumping cases of Chinese export businesses.
Prior to Elenet, since 1996, Roger was a Chief Representative of China Britain Business Council Chengdu Office on behalf of British Trade International and Department of Trade & Industry for assisting more than 3000 UK companies to get access into China market. And also on the position of Secretary General and member of the Working Committee of British Chamber of Commerce in Sichuan, Member of Asia Invest Program, European Union. The business covers south-western China with five provinces and municipality, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan and Tibet.
From 1986 to 1996, Roger was a Project Officer in Foreign Affairs Department of Science and Technology Commission of Sichuan taking care of governmental projects with foreign countries covering sorts of industries such as bioengineering, paper making, industrial fermentation, computer application, textile, packing, chemical, tannery, agriculture, livestock industry, environmental protection, finance etc.
Prior to the government, Roger worked in Sichuan Huaxin Marble Co. Ltd. (J.V.) as an Exporting Manager and an Officer of the Information Section, Sichuan Institute of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.
Roger had B.A. of International Studies in Sichuan University, and obtained a number of certificates in Management and International Business Practice, Intellectual Laws from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio; University of California Extension, Santa Cruz, USA, and Technical Management, NSW Business College, Sydney, Australia, and corporate trainings in UK during working with CBBC.
